A social media influencer known as Mrs. Kennedy, whose real name is Wendy Natasha Mutale, has been taken into custody for her alleged involvement in the kidnapping of her husband’s mistress.
The 26-year-old Ms. Mutale was arrested alongside two associates, Ennie Chifwalo, 30, and Cynthia Longwani, 31, as part of a disturbing case that has garnered significant public attention.
The trio is accused of abducting, assaulting, and unlawfully confining two women, Lucy Mushabati, 26, and Nchimunya Malambo, 32, at Mrs. Kennedy’s residence. The allegations suggest a premeditated act of violence fueled by personal grievances, as Ms. Mutale is reportedly facing multiple charges, including abduction, harassment through electronic means, and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga provided details about the incident, revealing that it was reported by a victim support officer. “The Zambia Police Service would like to inform the public about the arrest of three suspects related to an abduction case reported on February 4, 2025, at Chilenje Police Station,” he stated, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations.
According to Mr. Hamoonga, the alleged abduction occurred around noon on February 4, 2025, in the Kabwata-Chilenje area. It is claimed that Mrs. Kennedy forcibly took Ms. Mushabati and Ms. Malambo to her home in Vona Valley, Meanwood, where they were subjected to physical violence, locked in, and had their mobile phones confiscated to prevent them from seeking help.
Initial investigations revealed that the motive behind the abduction stemmed from Ms. Mutale’s belief that Lucy Mushabati was involved in an affair with her husband. This suspicion was reportedly exacerbated by a Facebook video posted by Ms. Mutale on February 3, 2025, in which she allegedly made threats and derogatory remarks directed at the victim.
Mr. Hamoonga confirmed that Ms. Mutale was apprehended by police on February 5 at 4:30 PM, following a thorough investigation. The subsequent inquiries led to the arrest of her two accomplices, Ms. Chifwalo and Ms. Longwani, who are believed to have played a role in the alleged crime.
“The Zambia Police Service is dedicated to ensuring justice in this case and safeguarding the rights and safety of all individuals involved,” Mr. Hamoonga asserted. He assured the public that ongoing investigations would continue.
